Obituary for Rose Marie Hatcher Stanley

Rose was born to late Porter and Mauzivia Hatcher on June 3, 1934 in Louisville, KY. She sweetly passed away in her sleep on Tuesday, August 4, 2020.

A graduate of Central High School, class of 1951 1/2 and Kentucky State University, class of 1956, she began her career as an educator in Lexington KY. Later teaching in Cleveland OH, Louisville KY, Butzbach Germany and returning to the Jefferson County Public Schools system before retiring in 1991.

She was a member of First Gethsemane Baptist Church, Rev. Dr. T. Vaughn Walker, Pastor (deceased) and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
As a child she was baptized at the Lampton Baptist Church, and later joined Westwood Presbyterian. Rose was always active in Sunday School, the music department, and serving seniors. before becoming a senior herself. She was a former member of the Ladies Senior Dance Team at Oak & Acorn.

Rose was predeceased in death by both parents and brothers Porter Jr., and Robert.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories her children, Gail Garrett-Lloyd (Greg) of Las Vegas, NV., and Cleo K. Joiner III; sister, Pat Adams, (JE), sisters-in-law Rosa Hatcher (Porter) and Jackie Hatcher (Robert), grandchildren Heather Harriman (Tommy) of Wisconsin Rapids, WI and Bryce Garrett of Las Vegas; great grandchildren; Jordan and Tommy Harriman, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, Sorors, former students, classmates, friends and church family.

Public Visitation: Saturday, August 8, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. followed by private service at noon. Both services will be held at Hathaway & Clark Funeral Home, Inc. 2718 Virginia Avenue. Interment: Louisville Cemetery.
