Obituary for King Jones, Jr.

King Jones, Jr. was born on August 22, 1933 in Lawrence County Alabama to the late King Jones, Sr. and Mariah Madding Jones. He moved to Louisville, Kentucky in 1953. King was baptized at 28th Street Baptist Church, where he was a faithful member for over 20 years. He served as Trustee, Usher and drove the church van. He was a foreman for the Louisville Paving Company. His passion for his work allowed him to continue construction work for a number of years. His youngest son, J.J., continues his legacy in the construction and paving industry. He was a sharp dresser in his day. He enjoyed singing and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He absolutely loved all sports and was an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan. He even coached his own softball team out of Grace Hope Community Park, "The Kingsmen." King was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara Jean Miller Jones; oldest son, Hansel "Jimmy" Jones. He was a loving father to Elizabeth Orr (Willie) of Courtland, Alabama, Kimberly Young, Jenice Jones, Jamar Jones (Tykecia); a doting grandfather to five grandchildren, Jacobi Anderson, Jonathan Young, Jaden Jones, Jada Lasley, Jayce Lasley; three great-grandchildren, Nakaila, Jace, Marlee Anderson and a a host of other relatives and family. Visitation: Saturday, June 20, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. followed by service at 12:00 P.M..Both services will be held at Hathaway & Clark Funeral Home, Inc. 2718 Virginia Avenue.
