Gregory Vance Harlan was born November 21, 1956 to the late Mary Christine Harlan Jordan and James Harlan in Louisville, Kentucky. He gave his life to Christ at an early age.
Gregory attended Manly Junior High and Male High School in Louisville and received his GED. He further continued his education at Jefferson Community College and then enlisted in the Navy. Gregory left the Navy in order to be a Kidney Donor to his Brother James (Pepper) Harlan.
Gregory was employed as the Food Service Manager for McDonald’s, Kentucky Fried Chicken and Druthers. He was a U of L Cardinal Basketball Fan, enjoyed Old School Music, loved to Fish and enjoyed tinkling with cars.
In the early 80’s he accepted his call to preach and was ordained in 2000 by Bishop Victor Alexander at the New Life Ministries in Christ. On October 18, 1998 he united in Holy Matrimony to Doris Jean Cowan.
Gregory was an all American fun loving person who loved to have a good time. He loved his family and his family loved him. He met no strangers and everyone who met him loved him and his sense of humor.
He is proceeded in death by his parents Mary Christine Harlan Jordan and James Harlan, two brothers, James Harlan (Pepper) and Leonard Robinson (Skins), and his step-son Andre Cowan.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife Doris Jean “Jeanie” Harlan, six children: Gregory Harlan, Jr., Taryn Rondo, Latasha Moore, Anthyun Mask, Tiffany Rondo and Sharita Bransford (Dwight) all of Louisville, Kentucky. Three Brothers, Aaron Harlan (Paula) of Lexington, KY, Kenneth Harlan and Edward Scott of Louisville, KY. Six Sisters, Denise Baldon, Deborah Williams, Diane Johnson, Deidra Harlan, Donna Harlan and Georgia Evans all of Louisville, KY. 4 Sister-in laws; Denise Robinson, Brenda Cowan and Barbara Cowan of Louisville, Kentucky and Carolyn Miller of Washington DC, 17 grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Rev. Gregory Vance Harlan, Sr., 60 passed away January 18, 2017. Services will be held Wednesday January 25th. Visitation 10:00a.m. followed by service at 12:00Noon at Lampkins Chapel CME Church, 2738 Algonquin Parkway. Burial, Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central.
